KUCHING (July 18): Members of the public are invited to learn the history of the awakening of Sarawakians and the Land of the Hornbills through an exhibition titled ‘The Sarawak Anti-Surrender Movement’.
The exhibition, which began today and runs until Sept 20, is being held at the Special Collections Room, Level 1 of the Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) from 10am to 5pm daily, except on public holidays.
“This exhibition reveals the important history of the Sarawak anti-surrender movement. It was a movement that resisted and fought against the British government’s attempt to rule Sarawak as a crown colony,” said Pustaka in a release.
It added that the exhibition also displays the struggle of the people and their resistance and protest against the surrender of Sarawak to the British.
Admission is free.
