Orang Ulu (OU) section conducts workshop

Kota Samarahan (16 Nov) : The Orang Ulu (OU) research section of Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak (MAIS) succesfully conducts its workshop for the Kayan &  Kenyah community recently.

The workshop, themed as 'Bengkel Adet Kayan Kenyah 1994(Penderafan/Pindaan Adat)' was conducted in two locations by the section.

Taken from their research representative ;

"Together with the Divisional Customs re -drafting/amendment committee for Community Leaders, Tribal Leaders and Adat Practitioners of Kayan and Kenyah Communities in Miri, Bintulu and Kapit Divisions and the Orang Ulu Research Section, Sarawak Customs Council.

The Kayan Kenyah Customs Workshop 1994 was held for the purpose of reviewing the Customs and drafting/amendment of the Customs of Kayan Kenyah 1994 on 11-23 October 2021 led by Dr Ipoi Datan (Head of Orang Ulu Research Section).

Among the committee members involved include Temenggong Elizabeth Deng, Temmenggong Joseph Ngau, Pemanca Umek Jeno, Pemanca Tonny Kulleh, Penghulu Gilbert Deng, Penghulu Robinson Oso Lawai, and Penghulu Anthony Kuleh as well as Community Leaders and Indigenous Practitioners at the Imperial Hotel, Miri and Promenade Hotel , Bintulu.

The Customary Drafting/Amendment Workshop for Miri Division was attended by 68 committee members, namely 34 committee members representing the Kayan Community (11-12 October 2021) and 32 people for the Kenyah Community (15-16 October 2021) and each was held at the Imperial Hotel Miri.

For the Bintulu and Kapit Divisions, a total of 48 committee members, namely 23 committee members representing the Kayan Community (19-20 October 2021) and 25 committee members for the Kenyah Community (22-23 October 2021) were held at Hotel Promenade, Bintulu."
