KUCHING (July 14): It is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure that traditional cuisine continues to be appreciated and passed down from generation to generation, said Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.
The Deputy Economy Minister said such efforts will indirectly stimulate the local economy, particularly in Mukah.
She said this during a site visit to assess the condition of traditional saguk roasted sago pearls processing buildings in Tellian, Mukah yesterday.
Hanifah, who is Mukah MP, also highlighted on the importance of improving the infrastructure for traditional Saguk processing to ensure the quality and productivity of the industry, as well as the need for cooperation among various stakeholders to achieve these goals.
The site visit was conducted by Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) under its Community@Score programme.
It was carried out to identify infrastructure improvement needs and plan coordinated efforts to enhance productivity and processing quality.
This initiative aligns with Recoda’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of local communities through targeted infrastructure improvements and development initiatives.
Among those present were representatives from Recoda, Mukah Service Centre, Dalat and Mukah District Councils.
