Welcome and a very warm greeting to the official website of Council of Native Customs & Traditions

Advancement in the information technology nowadays has made access to our MAIS website expeditiously and with ease. This website provides an insight regarding the roles and functions of Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak.

Since its establishment in 1977, MAIS has successfully codified Adat Iban, Adat Bidayuh, Adet Kayan-Kenyah, Adat Lun Bawang, Adat Bisaya, Adet Kelabit and Adet Penan. While documenting and collating the relevant materials for the customary laws, information on oral traditions, material culture, custom and traditions were also collected and archived.

The information collected and archived are indeed very useful particularly to our clients who are more inclined to carry out studies as well as further research on the customs and traditions of the indigenous communities found in Sarawak.

We welcome and appreciate your patronizing and sharing the feedback on our website.

Thank you.
